Top Reasons To Hire A Licensed Air Conditioning Company

Blog

Maintaining a home can be expensive, so it is not surprising that many homeowners want to save money where they can. However, hiring an unlicensed air conditioning company is never a good idea, even if their prices are lower than a licensed air conditioning company. It is always in your best interest to work with an air conditioning company that is licensed by the state. Some of the top reasons to hire a licensed air conditioning company include:

Fully Bonded and Insured

Licensed air conditioning companies must be bonded and insured in order to do business. This fact provides you with an invaluable level of protection. In the event that your home or air conditioning unit is damaged while an air conditioning company is servicing or repairing your unit, their insurance policy will cover the cost of the damages. If you hire an unlicensed air conditioning company and something goes wrong, you will be left responsible for paying the bill to have things fixed.

Workers' Comp Insurance

In addition to liability insurance, licensed air conditioning companies are also required to carry workers' compensation insurance. This type of insurance protects any employee of the company in the event that they are injured while on your property. In the event that an employee from an unlicensed air conditioning company is hurt on your property and is not covered by workers' comp insurance, he or she can sue you for monetary damages.

Proof of Skills

Obtaining a HVAC contractor license from the state is not a short or easy process. In order to become licensed and open up a licensed air conditioning company, a person must prove that he or she has the necessary skills to repair and install HVAC units. This usually involves taking an in-depth exam before a license is awarded. When you hire a licensed air conditioning company, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that you are working with professionals who know what they are doing.

Understanding of Regulations, Rules, and Building Codes

Licensed air conditioning companies must stay up to date on local regulations, rules, and building codes in regards to HVAC units. Thus, when you hire a licensed air conditioning company to do work on your air conditioner, you can count on their work to be up to code. If you choose to hire an unlicensed air conditioning company, you will have no way of knowing if their work is compliant.

Cool off Your AC Bill

Every summer, I agonized over energy bills that would shoot into the stratosphere as a result of my efforts to keep cool in the heat. Every time I turned the temperature down, my bills increased. This summer, I decided to take some of the control over my energy bill back. I installed reflective film on my windows that reduced the amount of light and heat coming into the house. I started serving more cold meals or asking my husband to barbecue outside, so that my air conditioner didn't have to compete with the hot stove, and I started doing laundry at night to reduce appliance heat in the house at peak times. I also had ceiling fans installed. So far, the difference in my bill has been tremendous. This blog is a way for me to explore other ways to reduce energy drain during the summer months.
